Asus Router Vulnerabilities

Asus has released emergency updates for its routers to fix critical security flaws. The vulnerabilities, which affect models such as the Asus RT-AC66U and Asus RT-N66U, could allow attackers to gain admin access without a password.

Users are advised to update their firmware immediately or disable remote access until they can install the fixes. The severity scores for these vulnerabilities reach 8.7, making them high-severity threats.

The affected routers include the Asus RT-AC86U, Asus RT-AC88U, and Asus RT-N18U. Users can check for updates on the Asus website or through the router’s web interface.

In addition to updating their firmware, users can also take steps to protect their routers from attacks. This includes changing the default admin password, enabling WPA2 encryption, and disabling WPS.

Asus is not the only manufacturer to have faced security issues with its routers. Other companies, such as Netgear and Linksys, have also had to release updates to fix vulnerabilities in their products.

For example, the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and Linksys EA6350 have both been affected by security flaws in the past. However, by releasing updates and advising users on how to protect their routers, manufacturers can help to prevent attacks and keep their customers’ networks safe.
