Block has unveiled Dessa, a new speech-to-speech AI model trained entirely on human conversations without written text or pretrained language models, running locally on a MacBook Pro equipped with Apple’s M4 Max chip.

Features

Dessa supports natural, real-time conversations with interruptions and emotional cues, much like the Samsung Galaxy S25’s AI assistant, and can even be used with devices like the iPad Air M2 or Apple Watch Series 10.
